It was an autumn Saturday afternoon when Timothy and Nancy went out. They bought ice cream, walk to the street, watch children playing around and walk through the entire park. They both enjoy observing their surrounding, were they will see children running, teenagers play frisbee and a family whose having a picnic. Until suddenly, Timothy stopped on walking as he saw this vacant playground.
As Timothy grabbed Nancy’s arm he asked, “Nancy, would like to go there?”
“Oh, there at the play ground? Sure.” Nancy replied.
They sat on the swing, when the two just remember it was their favorite swing since they become best friends.
Then, Timothy started a very serious conversation as he said "I will be gone for a simple investigation. You won't see me for days, months and years, but I promise you, I will be back and put my arms in your shoulders once more."
“Haha! As if you can out your arms around my shoulders. You always make me laugh. Thanks for that.” She said
"But if you are really serious, where are you going?" Nancy asked.
"I am going to the future. I want to see the difference between the world today and the world in the future. I want to know if I’ll marry the girl standing right next to me."
Nancy was frighten
“But, how will you do that? Are you crazy? Who in this world will think about that, huh?”
“Look, I made this time machine. You remember my grandfather who was a scientist. I read his diary, and in those letters I found out the making of a time machine.”
“What will you do in the future? I don’t get any of this. You’re insane!” Nancy said.
"Nancy, I am curious of what the world will be in the future. I want to see who will be the future leaders of our nation. I want to be the first man who will discover the beauty and essence of the future world. I want to know what will be trends, gadgets, the stars, the football players and more. I want to know if we are still best friends during that time. I want to know everything, just to be prepared.”
"What if you can't come back?"
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back for you.”
“You will be back for me? Is that true, then why would you leave me for that?” Nancy asked.
"As what I said, I’m curious about the future. That’s it. I will be back"
“Okay, then..” Nancy paused and said, “I’ll wait for you, but can I see that time machine you are saying?”
“Sure, come one let’s go home.” Timothy said.
As the two go down to the street, Nancy felt it is the last time they will be together and she wanted it to be memorable for the both of them. They went inside in a small shop she bought to bracelets for her and Timothy. As Timothy did not noticed what she bought because he is so excited to try his time machine. As the two reached Timothy’s house,(were Timothy was alone in that house) they rush through the car park and timothy removed the huge cloth that wrapped the time machine. Nancy was shock. She did not expect anything like real time machine; although she knows Timothy is serious she had a small percentage that it was all a joke. Until Timothy turned on the machine..
“Timothy, this is true. But, when are you going to the future?” Nancy asked.
“As soon as I could, maybe after you leave the house.” Timothy replied.
“So this might be our last…?”
Nancy’s voice was in chill as her eyes began to cry.
“Nancy, don’t be sad. I’ll be back as I said.”
Timothy wipes Nancy’s tears and hugs her.
“Look how excellent I am to put these pieces together.” Timothy said.
Nancy looked at the time machine, it was huge, a semi-circular egg, it has many buttons inside, it has an air condition inside, it has a radio station, it has a light outside and inside the time machine, it has food inside. It was well equipment, and ready to travel.
“He’s ready to go to the future..” as Nancy told herself.
Nancy hugged back, she get the bracelets from her pants and slightly holds Timothy’s hand and slides the bracelets.
“For an assurance that you will never forget me, if ever you will not come back.”
“Thank you, Nancy. I guess, I will go now I will miss you. I will be back, soon.”
Timothy went inside the time machine to start his journey, he starts the engine of the time machine, turned on the lights, and input the year he want to go the through. When Nancy was outside she was crying she wanted to tell Timothy how much he is important to her. But Timothy shouted
“Nancy go, inside. I’ll be back as soon as I can! I will miss you! Please wait for me here in my house. Wish me luck!”
“Good luck Timothy. I will miss you too.” And she opened the door and closed it. And then she began to hear a static sound with a flash of lightning. He opened the door and the time was gone. Timothy is gone.
She went inside the house pass through the kitchen, living room, walks through the stairs and stop in front of Timothy’s room. She opened the door, step inside the room, she stares every wall and everything within the room. She walks through it and sits on the bed, he grabbed Timothy’s picture and stared remembering their happy moments together. Then suddenly, her phone rings.
“Hello, Mom. Yup, I’m about to go home. I’m here at Timothy’s place.”
As Nancy closed the door she hopes she will see him once again.
After that night, Nancy went to Timothy’s place every single day. She went there every morning before going to school and every after school and she will leave a note. On her note, she will tell how her day was; she will write her feelings. Then she will clean Timothy’s house and check if he has arrived. And one day she went at Timothy’s house crying. Something happened in school. So she opened the door go straight to the kitchen counter pull out the chair, put her bag on the table, grabbed a paper and a pen and she start writing to Timothy what happened and she told him how she was crying. Until suddenly she heard this load static sound again, same sound when Timothy left and a flash of light appearing through the door. She smiled and said
“Timothy? Timothy? Timothy! Are, you there already?”
She walked in the car park and found the time machine. A huge smile in her face appeared, her heart started to pump like none before. She opened the time machine, and found out nothing. That Timothy is not there. Five years had pass and he did not arrive. Nancy begun to cry again and again until she said,
“Timothy, where are you? I though you will go back. Why is the time machine here and you are not. Where are you? I miss you so much. I want you to know how much I love you.”
She opened the door and walked inside, finished her letter to Timothy and left it on top of the kitchen counter. And she left the house.
As time went by, she continually do what she always does but now before going to work and leaving work. But Timothy did not. Ten years after Nancy and her family need to transfer to another town. Although Nancy does not want to go she needed to. And so, she made a letter and put on the kitchen table.
As Nancy and her family moved to another city, she never missed a single day thinking Timothy and how he was. She still remembers their happy days, the unforgettable days they spent together. Every month she went to their favorite playground, she drives around the house just to check if the house has a new owner. Until one day, when she was seating inside a coffee shop, full of different type of person, she sips on her coffee and an anonymous man began to talk.
“Hi, miss. Can I share sit with you?” the man said.
“Oh, sure no problem.” Nancy replied.
As she stared at the man, it looked like a bit of Timothy. So she starts a simple conversion.
“This was the only time, I sat in this coffee shop with this plenty full of people. Is this your first time here?”
“No. I always sit here. Oh, really? Usually this time is the rush hour times were there are many people here. But this was also the time I don’t have a sit,to sit on.” the guy replied.
“So you were saying that I got your chair? Is that so? Huh?”
“No, I did not mean that. It was just a coincidence. Where are you from I mean where do you live?”
“Oh, the 3rd street before this coffee shop the New Towers”
“Ah, a condominium right?”
“Yup. “ and Nancy smiles.
While talking to the man, Nancy feels that she was talking to Timothy. So she opened up herself to that man without knowing his name at all. She really enjoyed his company after several months Nancy asked the man to join a simple dinner with her family. While they were eating dinner Nancy said:
“I would like to say some words to the guy I met 5 months ago, when I met you at the coffee shop, I felt I’m talking to my best friend. You gave me a relief; I felt that same comfort zone again. And at that moment in time I knew I found my best friend again. But in 5 months I did not ask for your name. Now, may I know who you are?”
“I’m Timothy.”
Nancy was shocked from what she heard. And everyone was shocked too.
“You are, Timothy?”
“Yes, I’m really Timothy. I went back to my house and the only thing I saw in there was your letter. The letter when you were so sad and crying on your way to my house. So I went back to that day and watched what happened. When I came back again, I saw your second letter saying goodbye and a picture of you inside made me decide to look for you in the future. So, I fixed the machine to the year where you I will meet again. I fixed everything I could, just to be with you. And then it came the day you I met again at the coffee shop. I was so happy to see once again, until I wait for this time. This time to tell that I miss you so much, that I waited so long for this moment.”
“Timothy. My, best friend. I missed you so much.”
After eating dinner, the two went out. They were chattering about the thing that happened when Timothy was in a little experiment. They were both laughing to each other. Then, Timothy began to be serious again.
“Sorry for not telling you that it was me.” Timothy replied, “I have to prove to myself that until the future it will be you and me. So I did my best to mix up all the chemical and numbers to be exact, for the exact day and time that the two of us will meet again.” He continued.
“Timothy, can we go back to the time when were sitting in our favorite swing? “ Nancy asked.
“Sure. Let’s go.” Timothy said, as he opens the car door.
“ No. Let’s use the time machine.”
